Beany Brain #63: Laugh or You'll Cry (or Cuss)

Beany Brain: loving our jumping-bean brains!
Welcome to this issue of the Beany Brain! I hope today’s newsletter will bounce us up as we contemplate the upsides and challenges of being neurodivergent, a little beauty, some creativity, and just general yeehawesomeness.

Say cheese!
Let’s Laugh ‘Er Up, Folks!
This is my third guffaw-so-you-don’t-cry newsletter, so let’s get straight into it.
(Not that it’s bad to cry. It’s OK to cry. It’s good to cry sometimes.)
First up, John Lithgow sings his Manatee song:

Cat discovers autistic kid’s sensory chair:
This snark from The Daily Tism:
Ade Edmondson sings The Lonely Goatherd from The Sound of Music to a Coldplay tune:
The Inner Peace Police. This guy is great!
Ha Ha Haiku
My aim is to share a funny haiku with you every week in every newsletter, whether it’s one of my own or one I curate for you. HA. Ha. Haiku.
Company coming?
And your house is a big mess?
Just put on lipstick.

Yeehawesome!
Yeehawesome! is a happy-brain roundup in each issue of Beany Brain. What’s happening that’s good in brain land? What’s bringing me joy?
My parents’ local grocery store around the corner has free fruit for kids. I love that.
A forgotten female Impressionist’s paintings went on display in Liverpool. Marie Bracquemond is considered one of the top Impressionists, up there with the big guys that we have all heard of.
“Longleat Safari Park has installed sensory signage around the park to help prepare visitors for what they might encounter.” Well done! What a great idea and support.
Quote of the Week
Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward. - Kurt Vonnegut
Beany Brownie Points and Extra Bonus Funniness

Wonderful Wednesday
Wonderful Wednesday was a day once a year in college when they would suddenly and surprisingly call off all classes and we’d play all day. The cafeteria provided special fun food and we’d do stuff outside like slip ‘n slides and jello wrestling in sumo suits. This segment of Beany Brain is dedicated to that memory of silliness and fun—no words, just a photo from the week that I’ve taken or found that reminds me to let the joy in. Since Beany Brain is published on Wednesday every week (at least, Wednesday in Japan), I hope you enjoy this Wonderful Wednesday.
